For immediate release: Tuesday 25th, 2005 (NY, NY) - On December 1st the cast of Zapata's Gold were on their way to Mexico to live and film a ghost story in an authentic 15th century Spanish built Hacienda in Mexico. Although the Director, Lupita Sebastian has never seen ghosts in her parents Hacienda, she admits that she has heard them crying at night, in an eerie low pitched sobbing sound. "Yes I have heard strange sounds, that could be a woman sobbing, but I never told my cast till after the shoot. I guess I was afraid I would scare them off" she joked. As the little village girl in the one of the film's scenes says, (the Hacienda) "has many stories." And so this short film is based on a legend connected to the Hacienda that train robbers would steal gold from the train and ride furiously back to the Hacienda which they would use as a hideout. And although rumors are that the robbers hid their treasure somewhere in the Hacienda, the director smiled as she said that the only gold she has found is in the title "Zapata's Gold". The story is an ensemble piece, which features four main actors, (friends on holiday at the Hacienda). The cast includes Catherine Edison, Nailea Norvind, Mario Padula, and Kostas Paragios. "We were very lucky to get Nailea. She was just coming off "Mujer de Madera", and a run in the theatre play "Opcion Multiple" in Mexico city. She is very talented and brought joy and excitement not only on-screen, but off-screen as well. She was a delight to work with, and contributed greatly to the film." commented the director. The film is now in post-production and will be ready for the festival circuit by the end of the summer 2005. |
